Take in the Chimo Bantam Hockey Tournament, attend the Police/Firefighters hockey "grudge" match, carry a torch in the Torchlight Parade and Bonfire. * Polar Bear Riders Poker Runs are held throughout the winter for snowmobile enthusiasts. The Polar Bear Riders Club was the winner of the 1995/96 Yamaha National Pride Cup for the Best Overall Snowmobile Club in all of Canada. Cochrane's trails are known as the World?s #1 Snowmobile Trails. * May Run Fishing Derby is held on the Victoria Day Weekend and the fishing season officially opens. There are countless fishing derbies with categories and prizes that encompass all you can catch. * Trug Drag is sponsored by the Cochrane Richelieu and is held annually. There are dances, kareoke night, and on Sunday, the trucks race up the hill from the bottom of 6th Avenue. * Summerfest is held during July 1st, festivities include children?s games and at night a large fireworks display. * Fall Fair is held at the end of August and includes produce displays, animal displays, pet show, auction, bake sale, craft displays, cow patty bingo, and music. During the spring and fall, anglers and hunters take to the hills and streams. In the summer months, Cochrane is renowned for walleye and pike fishing. One lake in our area boasts more trophy pike than any other lake in Canada, some of them weighing in at more than 20 pounds. Cochrane is also famous for its trophy moose and bear. You can also hunt for ruffed grouse, migrating ducks and Canadian geese.
